I wish I could breathe in

the love that you are,

I wish I could chew it up

and swallow it down to

the bottom of my every cell.

I wish I could consume you

through all of my senses.

I wish I could make you

a substantial part of me

and you were flowing

through my veins.

So if I pricked my finger

you would appear

in a drop of blood.

And if I shed a tear

I would be crying you.

The body remembers,

and the spirit knows -

we once were one being.
